The food of India and Tibet featured at this restaurant in a little strip mall south of downtown flagstaff. While the Indian dishes here are quite good, I like to order less familiar Tibetan dishes .The momos are similar to Japanese gyaza or Chinese pot sticker. Here you can get them either stuffed with meat or vegetables .Follow your momos with a bowl of Thukpa (a hearty noodle soup )or Chau Chau (pan fried noddles )Both of these latter dishes can be ordered with chicken or lamb .At lunch , there’s an $ 8 buffet ,and on Sunday, there’s an $11 champagne brunch . Main courses $10-$21. AE, DISC, MC, VC Daily 11amto2.30pm and 5-10 pm

Himalayan is on top of the small Indian cuisine scene here in our mountain town of Flagstaff. Featuring the style of not only India, but those of Nepal and Tibet, Himalayan Grill offers an exotic sampling of tasty foods you will love.

If you're visiting Flagstaff to enjoy the winter weather, you'll want a hearty dinner to warm you up after a busy day of skiing or sledding. The Himalayan Grill isn't easy to spot, but it's worth seeking out.
The restaurant, tucked near the end of a small plaza opposite Bun Huggers, serves deliciously seasoned and aromatic dishes from India, Nepal and Tibet. Portions are large, and the menu will please vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

Flagstaff? Nepalese food? Yep. This isn’t the West Side of L.A. or The Village in Manhattan, no, this is a restaurant serving the cuisine of “Nepal, India and Tibet” in a strip mall outside of central Flagstaff, Arizona. But I am a curious type, so, I take a hotel right near the Himalayan Grill, knowing exactly where I would be enjoying my dinner. Sure, lunch was a five dollar Einstein’s Bagel sandwich and the following day would likely be fast food of some sort. But tonight would be the “blowout” dinner of the trip.

The Best Indian Curry in Flagstaff |
|
| RJ Cummings, Munds Park, AZ ,Sep-04-2007 |
| The curry dishes at the Himalayan Grill in Flagstaff match up well with my favorite curry dishes in London, New York, and San Francisco. I have eaten at this restaurant over 30 times since it opened, nd have never been disappointed. The chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, tandoori prawns, and Himalayan naan make for a wonderful night of dining. It is a mark of a fine curry restaurant when the meal tastes delicious when ordered mild, medium, or British spicy. As a fan of very spicy dishes, I am surprised that I have been ordering medium spicy meals to prevent the "heat" from overpowering the delicate flavors. The masala dishes, in particular, have a wonderful smoky aroma and taste, with a perfectly textured sauce. The korma dishes have a fine, full bodied finish. The lamb, chicken, prawns, fish, and vegetables are of the highest quality. This really distinguishes the Himalayan Grill from most of the curry restaurants in the U.S. Be aware that this is not "fast food". Each dish is prepared when ordered. Have a nice Flying Horse lager and some somosas while you wait. It will be worth it. I have only been to the lunch buffet twice, but was pleasantly surprised both times with the selection. Excellent food for a fair price. The staff are very knowledgable and personable. Ask them about the numerous items on the menu. While the curry items attracted me in the first place, I frequently order the vegetable chau chau (pan fried noodles). This is a nice item for dinner guests who need a "safe dish", in case they won't like curry. On at least four occasions, my wife and I have invited guests who have never eaten Indian curry. Each time, there is no curry left on the table and I have to eat the noodles ! |

| I took my Brother and nephew to the Grand canyon then stopped in Flagstaff for lunch buffet 7.99.
For a nice atmosphere and all you can eat it was great. My nephew who is a pivky eater(13 yrs old. Loved the Butter Chicken, rice and naan bread. I liked the color scheme. For being only open a few months they have a great future. |

Tasty Food/Slow Service |

| The food at Himalayan Grill is wonderful but be prepared to wait on service. I have eaten here at least 6 times this year for dinner and each time waited 10 or more minutes to order after being seated.
Best bet is the lunch buffet -- great food, no service wait time! |

Amazing Indian food |

| canda-manda, Flagstaff AZ, Official unnoficial ,Jan-08-2009 |
| I have eaten at only one other Indian food place in town, and I almost gave up on my quest to find relatively good food in Flagstaff. Let\'s face it, the town is an amazing place to live, but if you want good food you might as well make it yourself. Luckily, Himalayan grill came to town and the food is absolutely amazing! |

| I never expected one of my favorite restaurants in Flag to be Indian food, but this place is fabulous! The lamb dishes are my favorite, and the chai tea is perfect on a chilly day. The food is delicious, and the servers are very gracious and friendly. I go every chance I get! |

Himalayan Grill - GO! for lunch |
|
| Rob, http://www.wildernessvagabond.com/ ,Jun-12-2009 |
| We live in Flagstaff and visit the Himalayan Grill once a week when we are in town. (We hike a lot - hey, it's Flag.) Tremendous value with most arguably the best food in Flagstaff. How come? The lunch choices (buffet) please my 7-day a week vegetarian bride and me, a 6-day a week vegetarian (AKA omnivore). Delightful. We always eat the buffet lunch, and have experienced no issues with service. There are many reasons this establishment was voted best Indian food in Flagstaff. I lived in Smog Lake, utah, and would favorably compare this grill with the best there - and the value far exceeds anything Smog Lake has to offer. |

Delicious Food/ Friendly Reception |

| On the couple of occasions I visited family in Flag we enjoyed meals at the Himalyan. In fact it has become a MUST to eat there. The variety of food (mainly curries) provides an adventure into flavours and the simple desserts a great finish to the meal. Always a 'Welcome back' from the management and staff. I highly recommend this restaurant for both Flagstaff visitors and residents. |
